EP 14: Filli Vanilli
Rating: 4 4 4
Flutters song, it's fine and jackalopes exist.
The other ponies heard her sing and want her to sing for the Pony Tones at her fundraiser for her animals but she refuses because she's Fluttershy. We hear the Pony Tones sing and afterwards Spike cheers for Rarity and disregards the other members of the Pony Tones which was pretty funny.
About 40% through the episode, I don't have anything to comment on but so far, Big Mac who's in the Pony Tones threw out his voice during a turkey call competition and they need a replacement which Fluttershy can be if she takes poison joke to become Flutterguy and replaces Big Mac's voice as he lip-syncs her vocals like it's a pop concert. Cheerilee also faints at a point showing that either she and Big Mac are a thing or she likes him.
The plan works and then the Pony Tones are dragged into performing at a Cute-Ceañera after which Mayor Mare wants them to perform at a ribbon-cutting ceremony because that's what the tax bits should be going towards instead of fixing town hall or the disaster relief fund. She also has an assistant who is apparently a different pony to Celestia's assistant so they must be twins. The Pony Tones then do more shows until in the last one, the whole act is uncovered. At the end of the episode we hear it's zap apple season soon so we're still in late year 5.
4 EV because it's yet another alright episode. 4 VB for the message of facing your fear but I feel like another episode already did this. 4 DV for minor continuity callbacks.
EP 15: Twilight Time
Rating: 5 4 4
Long ago, I was at some holiday thing at a family member's house and there were a bunch of people related by marriage I didn't know including some little kid and somehow I learned he also liked MLP so we went to an upstairs hallway to watch it and this was the episode we watched.
We start by learning that Sweetie sucks at levitation, Scoots can't construct stuff even though in One Bad Apple, it's shown the CMC are literally engineers, and Apple Bloom releases a neurotoxin with her potioncraft causing permanent nerve damage to everyone in the room.
After the theme song, the CMC and Pipsqueak are playing four square which is the worst playground game. Here's a fun fact about me: When I was a little Moxy, people in the play yard would form hunting packs looking for me so they could be mean to me or physically fight me. I also used to get into 1 on 1 fights almost daily at one point when I was around 7. I am not exaggerating. One of the staff once assaulted me too. Since this is probably the best chance I'll have to tell this story, at this place one time, my age group were all in the upstairs giant cafeteria danceroom stageroom thing and we were all on the stage doing whatever, most kids playing on their handhelds or some shit and I had a giant Pokemon information book. Well eventually, the retarded staff made us put down all our expensive electronics and crap, get off the stage, and get in line at the other end of the room all while the toddler-aged kids started flooding in and running at the stage and started fucking with all our shit while we weren't allowed to do anything. Well, there was one kid which was very special needs and probably had low-functioning autism or something and he B-lined to my giant Pokemon book and opened it. At this point I was expecting him to just start ripping the pages out prompting me to run across the room to throw hands with a retarded toddler but instead he just gently flipped through the pages leaving not even a crease. I think about this event often.
Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon then come in and Diamond Tiara make her senile butler do acrobatics in her place. This was pretty goofy and look at Silver Spoon's smug face, filled with cocky cuteness.
The CMC then get the idea that if they get good at the skills they've been learning from Twilight, they can show off and become popular. Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon then ask Sweetie if Rarity's going to Manehatten any time soon so they can meet celebrities with the CMC. This seems like a nice gesture at first but it's just to make fun of Sweetie for not being taken to Manehatten. Then Sweetie brags about hanging out with Princess Twilight Sparkle prompting Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon to put on a nice filly act to meet Twilight with the CMC.
The CMC bring them to Twilight's and Silver Spoon calls Diamond Tiara "Di" which to find the spelling of, I had to extract the video with closed captions from the ISO via a program to see that's how it's spelled since VLC can't handle the closed captions for season 4 for some fucking reason. Twilight tells the CMC to not bring their stupid little friends over in the nicest way possible.
Di and Sil then tell all the other schoolponies about Twilight time and now everyone wants in. The CMC then meet Twilight at a restaurant and it turns out the entire class is hiding while trying to see Twilight. In the restaurant, the foals start taking pictures of Twilight through the window and Scootaloo starts posing like a diva. I did not expect her to be the diva of the group. Scootaloo also mentions how if she doesn't smile in a picture, she looks sad which brings me to the smiling in pictures critique. The normality of people smiling in photos is just such an weird, unnatural thing. It's a facial expression that people can even tell is fake with humans having slight distinctions between real and fake smiling. It would be much more natural and less creepy if people didn't smile in pictures unless that was their actual expression at the moment or if they can replicate a real smile instead of a fake one because they're actually happy in the moment.
Twilight goes outside to confront the foals and they freak the fuck out at her.
After they all meet Twilight, Pipsqueak offers the CMC free lemonade for a week from his lemonade stand he's holding the grand opening to. Now that's the free market I'm talkin' about! Scoots also gets a hoof shining further suggesting her divaness. Di then invites the CMC to her house for pool part keeping out everyone else. Realizing what they're doing is bad or something, they decide to leave for Twilight time but Di and Sil also want to go but the CMC say they can't and then they get the foals to turn on the CMC who then run away and jump over hedges to escape. They get to Twilight's hoping to explain the situation to her but the other foals catch up and knock on Twilight's door and now all the foals get Twilight time. In the library, we also see a diagram of the Tree of Harmony's lockbox.
Then the whole thing falls apart when Pipsqueak reveals he wants to become a Cutie Mark Crusader so he can get classmates to do him favors. Twilight then confronts the CMC and they're lack of skill development proves their guilt. Then the CMC git gud and Twilight gives them another chance and the episode ends.
Quite an entertaining episode with all the filly antics and goofy parts so it gets 5 EV. 4 VB for the CMC learning new skills and bettering themselves. Too bad kids in real life are stuck forced to go to school often not actually learning anything that interests them, having to wait until they're out of school and pay out the ass to go to college with money they don't have because "kids can't work" and instead we allow the school system and society at large to groom children into the debt system to pay for their college and often other things, feeding the credit beast and making things more and more expensive as more and more things are payed for with debt. 4 DV because we see some of Di's house, the lockbox poster, and the CMC are getting better at life.
EP 16: It Ain't Easy Being Breezies
Rating: 3 4 4
The breezies are traveling to their home world or something and Flutters and sperging out about them like I sperg out about fillies. Flutters wants to also have the ponies cheer for the breezies as they pass through Ponyville but as we will learn later, the majority of them don't speak Ponish so what's the point?
During some dialogue, we learn breezies need a breeze because it somehow activates a magic that protects their pollen and that they have two days to get a portal leading to their home. So these are inter-dimensional beings. Flutters then reveals western Equestria was where she was watching them in Three's A Crowd. Rarity arrives in a a dress that would be harmful to the breezies like a cunt.
Then the little shits arrive and then Spike ruins their travel with a single leaf. They had to travel across Equestria and single leaf can mess them up this bad? Then one of them starts yelling in what sounds like a Germanic Scandinavian language although it's probably made up gibberish but there's a moment when the breezie sounds like it says "PewDiePie".
6:20 Derpy sighting. She also pops out of existence in the last couple shot frames.
Flutters saves the breezies and crap and takes them to her cottage where they loiter and party for the rest of the episode while the lead one, Seabreeze tries to get them to get back to traveling home. He then says "fuck it" and just leaves trying to get to the portal himself and almost gets killed until Fluttershy saves him.
Blah blah Flutters kicks them out and then the Mane 6 become marketable toy designs and escort the breezies to the portal where we see Seabreeze has a family explaining why he was so eager to get back. So does this imply the breezies have an incel crisis since the others weren't eager to get back to their families they probably don't have? Also Rainbow Dash wants to be a griffon.
Wasn't that interesting of an episode as you can probably tell by this one's commentary but it isn't boring so it gets 3 EV. 4 VB for the basic message of having to be stern to get people to do things sometimes. 4 DV because we see the breezies and their home world.
EP 17: Somepony To Watch Over me
Rating: 4 4 4
Why do ponies have doorknobs? Shouldn't they use handles? We start with Apple Bloom being told by her family she can be home alone putting the CMC's ages around the preteen range since that's when children begin to be left home alone in the US and Canada from what I could find. This would also match up with the CMC being around 7 or 8 years old at the start of the show.
Applejack and Big Mac have to make separate deliveries while Granny Smith has to meet some family members for something which is why Apple Bloom's staying home alone. They depart but Applejack gets worried and goes back to check on Apple Bloom, disrupting her leading to her make a mess. Apple Bloom is a spaghetti-head.
Applejack then begins turning the farm into the UK, removing anything even potentially dangerous that could hurt Apple Bloom. Then Apple Bloom calls the CMC over and she gets the idea to deliver Applejack's pie cart to prove she's old enough to stay home alone. To trick Applejack into thinking Apple Bloom's still there since she checks on her frequently, Scoots and Sweetie decide put on one of Apple Bloom's bows each and pretend to be Apple Bloom asleep. They also mention how they can take turns in case one gets tired... while sleeping in a bed. This is either a writing oversight or genius irony. The CMC then feint a song which is pretty amusing.
Apple Bloom, jumps out the window, Sweetie gets into the bed, and Scoots hides in the closet as Applejack is approaching. Scoots then tells Sweetie she's gotta sleep like Apple Bloom the same way she does everything, with sass. So now we know Scoots is the diva, Apple Bloom is the sassy one, but now we have to figure out what feminine stereotype Sweetie is.
15 minutes pass and Sweetie falls asleep with Scoots still hiding in the closet.
The plan falls apart and Applejack starts freaking out and the next scene, she decides to go after Apple Bloom and tells Scoots and Sweetie Rarity's coming to look after them. But how did she contact Rarity? Ponyville doesn't have telephones that we know of and Applejack doesn't possess any communicative magical items and there's no one nearby to send for her. Sweetie also mentions Apple Bloom must have left hours ago when we see that only 15 minutes passed.
Apple Bloom's traveling through a flame swamp and gets attacked by a chimera like a GTA Online griefer attacking someone selling their crap. Luckily for Apple Bloom, the chimera is a mid-level idiot and she's able to prevent the product from being destroyed and herself from being killed. Then Applejack comes in like a rogue defender and 1-0s the chimera and then helps Apple Bloom complete the sale. Apple Bloom then wastes the sale money on a super car instead of buying a militarized vehicle to better defend herself.
Another just alright episode worth 4 EV. I give it 4 VB for the slightly anti-paternalist message but it's not strong enough to warrant a higher score. 4 DV because we see a new location and beast.
EP 18: Maud Pie
Rating: 6 6 4
Start by learning Pinkie's sister Maud is coming to Ponyville for a week. We learn about Pinkie's rock candy necklace tradition with Maud, Maud discovered a new type of rock, and she's getting a rocktorate in rock science.
Pinkie has to get Maud from the train station while the others prepare a picnic along with their pets. There's a funny moment as Applejack sets down a basket of muffins, Angel runs up to try to get one only for Applejack to push him away as he freaks out and screams then runs away. Maud approaches the ponies and since Pinkie told Rarity Maud loves fashion and Maud herself says she expresses herself through her wardrobe, Rarity asks Maud what her outfit is saying to which Maud replies "It doesn't talk; it's a dress." and this is one of the best moments this show has had so far.
Maud then shows off her pet rock Boulder. During the picnic, Maud gives Boulder some of her sandwich and then proceeds to eat a rock. So would Maud eating rocks be like people eating dogs since Maud has a pet rock or are different rocks different species that are deemed okay to eat? After the picnic, the ponies play camouflage which is a more intense hide and seek and Boulder is first to hide. The ponies fail to find Boulder until Maud finds him in her pocket. It's then implied by Rainbow Dash that they spent all day looking for Boulder.
Since the ponies didn't befriend Maud at the picnic, they decide to spend time with her one-on-one but she's too autistic for them to handle. With Twilight, she reveals she writes poetry and all her poems are about rocks and that she's written thousands. She should really publish them if she hasn't. She then helps Applejack make cider and completely smashes the apples with a rock to peel them. This suggests we're still in cider season. With Rainbow Dash, she reveals she had absurdly high strength like Pinkie by throwing a boulder past the horizon.
The ponies then tell Pinkie that they aren't friends with Maud 'cause she's too autistic for them and Pinkie gets sad until she comes up with a plan to make them friends. She makes some obstacle course thing which one of the things is poker and Pinkie gets a four of a kind. Blackjack is better than poker. Pinkie then gets stuck on a rock mountain and causes a boulder to come falling towards her but Maud saves her with her super strength able to smash rocks with her bare hooves. Maud might actually be one of the most powerful beings in Equestria.
Maud then decides to go to the rock farm for the rest of her week before leaving since she knows the ponies don't have fun with her and Pinkie comes with only to find the others at the rock farm and reveal they actually are friends now since they all share a love for Pinkie or something.
So this is probably the funniest episode of the season and enough so that it gets the esteemed 6 EV. It also gets the grand 6 VB because Maud is such an amazing character and the episode seems autism-adjacent. The episode presents Maud in such a strange way and the ponies perceive her similarly to how people perceive autists at least on the nicer side. I do think the episode could've ended better with the ponies appreciating something about her other than that she loves and protected Pinkie and the more I think about it, the more the ending just doesn't sit right with me. It gets 4 DV for Maud herself.
EP 19: For Whom The Sweetie Belle Toils
Rating: 4 3 4
We start with Rarity revealing she's still doing work for Sapphire Shores. Sweetie then wants Rarity to work on dresses she made for a play she wrote and is performing with the CMC. The play is a success but everyone just liked the dresses and doesn't remember anything about the play pissing Sweetie Belle off since no one appreciates her masterpiece.
Sweetie then schizes the fuck out at Rarity accusing her of making the dresses so good to steal Sweetie's spotlight on purpose. Rarity tries to get Sweetie to take her meds but she refuses and begins rambling ignorantly about colors. She lists a bunch of red colors complaining that it's all just red. You are wrong Sweetie. You don't understand the significance of the specific hue. Colors do not just magically blend together well because you randomly selected whatever "red". You must understand how the slight variations affect whatever thing visually. I use specifically #9400D3, dark violet for Mox colors because that is the specific color I chose after intensively comparing slightly different colors, getting rid of purples with ever so slightly too much red, ever so slightly too little vibrance until I found the perfect, vibrant purple (technically violet) to be part of my colors that represent me. I take colors so seriously that even the background color of Moxistan.com was manually tweaked until I had the perfect grey, a cool grey with reduced warmness enough contrast to pass WCAG guidelines. I even imbue symbolism in many of the colors I use. Internal links are green to symbolise leaves which come off the Tree Of Mox. External links pertaining to myself are the color of cherry blossoms with darker shading to fit the vibrant, neon colors theme and symbolise the foreign nature of the link like how cherry blossom leaves look foreign in context of other tree leaves. Sweetie Belle, you must realize that the specific color means so much. You cannot simply use "red", you must find the perfect color for visual appeal and symbolism.
Sweetie then sabotages Rarity's headdress for Sapphire Shores. Sweetie then has a nightmare and Luna descends into her dream. Sweetie then comes across her 5th birthday party and we see that the foals are visually younger than fillies are which proves that the CMC were more than 5 years old at the start of the show like I already stated. I believe the CMC were either 7 or 8 at the start of the show and are 12 or 13 now considering Apple Bloom can stay home alone now and that we are in late year 5 or early year 6 if my timeframe theory is correct. We also see Rarity is fully grown which is why I believe the ponies are in their early 20s instead of mid-late teens in the first season as I already discussed in regards to my proving Pinkie's age.
Sweetie explains how Rarity took everyone's attention away from her and that's why she hated that birthday. Luna then states she doesn't know the full story and shows her the truth of what happened being that the kids got bored and wanted to leave so Rarity had to take the spotlight to prevent them from leaving. We see the event and the 5-year-olds talk like they're preteens. But how does Luna know this? Did she dreamwalk in one of Rarity's dreams that just so happened to be a memory of this event because it can't be Sweetie Belle's memory since she didn't have the context.
Luna then takes Sweetie to an event that happened earlier that night proving that Luna can just traverse time which is fucking creepy. This didn't happen in Sweetie's memories or dreams nor Rarity's that we know of so Luna can just seemingly view any moment in time anywhere. Rarity goes to sleep and the colors turn negative.
Luna then sends Sweetie to the future where she sabotaged Rarity, ruining her career.
How it feels writing and editing these damn things in time for next site update.
Sweetie then wakes up and finds Rarity has already left for Canterlot. She and the other CMC then board a train to Canterlot showing just any child can freely use transportation without identification. Now that's the free market I'm talkin' about! If you hate identification requirements as much as do, vote for me in your next election and I promise to abolish all identification requirements with the RITARD Act. Go to NightMox For President to learn more.
Scoots and Apple Bloom then sperg out about Sapphire Shores and belittle Sweetie for not listening to her like a bunch of celebrity-obsessed consoomers. At Canterlot they then have to sneak into where Rarity and Sapphire are so Sweetie can un-sabotage the headdress and she does with Luna there too who seems to be skilled at sewing. The Headdress is fixed and Sapphire loves it. The end.
Alright episode. 4 EV. I vibe with nothing so 3 VB. 4 DV for the continuity with Sapphire Shores and Luna's dreamwalking.
EP 20: Leap Of Faith
Rating: 5 5 4
We open to Applejack and Big Mac playing in a lake having a grand ol' time.
Granny Smith then says she can't get in the water because of her past. She used to be a high-diver but after falling six stories and injuring herself in an attempt to set a record, she never swam again. After they're done swimming, a bunch of injured ponies begin following some music which the Apples decide to also follow. They come to find the Flim Flam brothers are back again with a miracle tonic. We a get a song which is just a worse version of the song from The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000. Granny Smith buys into the miracle tonic and the next day, she's swimming.
Applejack and Apple Bloom get suspicious and go back to the Flim Flam brothers and find that one of the ponies that was cured during the song, has been cured again and then confront him and learn his name is Silver Shill and he's a complete cuck, cowering to Applejack and Apple Bloom and then running away. Applejack then finds Flim and Flam and we learn the miracle tonic is just a mixture of apple juice and beet leaves which I want to make. I have no idea where I would get beet leaves though. But because Granny Smith does seem to be better with the tonic, Applejack leaves them alone.
Screwloose is hurt :(
Derpy sighting.
Eventually Apple Bloom and Granny Smith compete in some aquabatics thing and Apple Bloom drowns. Applejack tries to do CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation but it fails. In one last effort to save her sister, she buys a bottle of Flim Flam Brothers Miracle Cure Tonic™ for only 3 bits per bottle and gives the unconscious Apple Bloom a swig of it. Apple Bloom then coughs before gaining consciousness again and then everyone cheers for the Flim Flam Brothers Miracle Cure Tonic™. Granny Smith then beats the Equestrian record for high-diving by jumping six stories into a six-inch tray of water and everyone cheers more for the wondrous effects of the Flim Flam Brothers Miracle Cure Tonic™. Big Mac then comes and takes a swig of the Flim Flam Brothers Miracle Cure Tonic™ before proceeding to beat Silver Shill do death as everyone cheers for the Flim Flam Brothers Miracle Cure Tonic™. Also, Screwloose has the wrong cutie mark.
This was a pretty good episode with Granny antics and other stuff I forgot the reason for rating it 5 EV. 5 VB for the message of not telling or giving into lies so people stay happy in a falsity. 4 DV for the return of the Flim Flam brothers.
