As I've played more and more games throughout my life, I have noticed something that I don't see others discuss: video game DLCs are a complete ripoff and usually suck. Rarely do I ever feel like a payed for DLC actually adds anything significant to a game let alone is worth paying money for. Most of the time they are already planned out cash grabs so people will spend even more money on a game. A single DLC for a game is usually $5-$10 while if a game has multiple DLCs, a collection of all DLCs is sold for usually $30-$50, maybe $20 if it's not a "Triple-A" game. As someone who thinks any modern game over $20 is overpriced as I express in my $70 Games article, charging over that for DLC is absolutely mind-boggling to me. Even worse is that DLCs go on sale more rarely than games if ever. If you want to get a game with all the DLCs, it's best to wait until a complete edition of the game exists and for it to be discounted to $20 or less which it will be.
In terms of the quality of DLCs, they usually suck. Almost every DLC I have ever played, I think "Who would actually spend money on this?". The base game could be a good game that you enjoy but after you play the DLC or even while playing, it usually just feels like I'm playing some asset flip knockoff of the base game but it was made by the actual developers. The base game could be dozens of hours long but the DLC only takes 4 or less hours to complete on a casual playthrough. People need to stop buying this crap and spend less on games.
