$70 Games

They Aren't Worth It

With current gen consoles of the PS5 and Xbox Series X came games with a base price of $70. A lot of people have already covered this topic and most seem to share my opinion that games should not cost this much. If you've seen anyone else discuss this, you have already heard the arguments against $70 games such as despite games costing more to make, they are much more monetizable to make up for the cost. All this bullshit started when one of the annual NBA 2K games was decided to cost $10 more on current gen systems because of all games, a microtransaction hell was decided to be of enough 'quality' to get the price increase. Soon after, many publishers decided to make their games $70, most being multiplayer games with microtransactions as far as I've seen. Meanwhile, the games with less monetization such as single player games are more likely to have a free upgrade for people that already own the game. Hopefully, $70 games are purchased less and this forces publishers to make their games' base price $60 or even less.

Games Aren't Worth Even $60

One of my problems with $70 games is that I don't think games are even worth $60. Although I used to buy some games full price, I now refuse to spend more than $20 no matter what game it is. Games go on sale so often and so quickly after release, I find spending $60 on a single game foolish. Even if it's a game I really want, I have the patience to wait until its price drops to around $20 which it usually does on Black Friday even if the game was released the same year. Black Friday is when I buy most of my games for the year as it's usually when they are at their lowest price in the year. Because I can get games so cheaply easily, buying games at $60 doesn't make sense. People that buy games at full price and play them for themselves, not for an income or whatever, need to develop some patience and they'll save a lot of money.
